Re: The Quieting
All our days are loud. Ask around, and you will hear the phrase "now more than ever." We have been instructed to be simultaneously frightened and prepared. Since forever we have found that we are hyper-sensitive, that every little things cuts every little deeper. Without putting too fine a point on it, without encouraging any sort of hyperbole or pulling our a crib sheet of emotional talking points, we would like to offer THE QUIETING for your newest revolution. This is a show about standing up to calm down. It is about presenting your rawest edges to music and words and thereby training yourself to be present. It is about the very political act of seeking out and fortifying yourself with beauty. Donald Bartheleme asked, "How can you be alienated without first having been connected?" We add: "How can you be alienated when there is so much to which one can connect?"
